Terms and conditions

This Agreement (the “Agreement”) is a binding agreement between you (the “Author”) and DL Bookstore (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

This Agreement sets forth the terms and conditions of your participation in selling your Print, Digital Book(s), Audiobook(s), or Online Course(s) at our physical store or online shop (dlbookstore.com/books).

1. Agreement Acceptance

1.1 By clicking “Agree” or “Accept,” you confirm your acceptance of this Agreement and agree to be bound by its terms.

1.2 If you do not accept this Agreement, you are not entitled to sell your Print, Digital Book(s), Audiobook(s), or Online Course(s) through DL Bookstore.

2. Agreement Amendment

2.1 We may amend this Agreement at any time at our sole discretion.

2.2 Notice of changes will be sent via email to the address registered for receiving your monthly sales report, with the revision date indicated.

2.3 If you do not agree to the changes, you must withdraw your items from sale and terminate this Agreement.

3. Term and Termination

3.1 This Agreement begins upon your acceptance and continues until terminated by either party.

3.2 Termination by DL Bookstore:

  • We may terminate at any time and will notify you upon termination.

3.3 Termination by Author:

  • You may terminate at any time by providing notice.

  • Upon receipt, we will cease selling your items within 5 business days.

4. Selling Rights

4.1 Delivery and Selling

4.1.1 Delivery

  • You must deliver, at your own expense, the Print, Digital Book(s), Audiobook(s), or Online Course(s) you wish us to sell.

  • Print Books: Minimum 5 copies; deliver to DL Bookstore, Arusha, +255 680 375 970, or in person.

  • Digital Books, Audiobooks, Online Courses: Must be free of viruses, worms, or harmful code.

  • A Goods Received Note will confirm receipt.

4.1.2 Digital Sales

  • Purchased Digital Books, Audiobooks, or Online Courses will be delivered via buyer email.

  • We are not liable if buyers share your materials via email, WhatsApp, or any other means.

4.2 Marketing and Promotion

4.2.1 If requested, you must provide additional materials such as covers, sample audio, sample pages, or summaries promptly.

4.2.2 You represent that all information provided is accurate, complete, and current.

4.2.3 You authorize us, directly or through third parties, to verify your rights and the accuracy of the provided information.

4.3 Pricing

4.3.1 List Price

  • You will provide a list price for each item.

  • You may change the list price at any time; changes take effect within 5 business days.

4.3.2 Currency Conversion

  • Items may be sold internationally in foreign currencies.

  • Prices will be converted at an exchange rate we determine and updated periodically.

  • Royalties are calculated based on the converted price in the relevant currency.

4.4 Royalties and Payments

4.4.1 Payment Timing

  • Royalties are payable upon request, provided at least one item has sold.

  • Monthly online sales reports will be provided.

4.4.2 Payment Currency

  • All payments are made in Tanzanian Shillings (TZS), regardless of sale currency.

4.4.3 Payment Policies

  • A valid bank account or required information may be needed to receive payments.

  • Authors receive 70% of the sale price; DL Bookstore retains 30% as commission, sometimes covering delivery costs.

  • Additional policies may apply, including minimum payment amounts or check fees.

4.4.4 Payment Disputes

  • Disputes must be raised within 6 months of the statement date.

  • Remedies are limited to recovery of the disputed amount; no interest is payable.

5. Force Majeure

DL Bookstore is not liable for failure or delay caused by events beyond our control, including but not limited to:

  • Denial-of-service attacks

  • Insurrections

  • Fires, floods, storms, or explosions

  • Acts of God

  • War or terrorism

  • Labor disputes

6. Arbitration

6.1 Disputes arising from this Agreement will first be resolved amicably.

6.2 If unresolved, an arbitrator will be appointed by the parties.

6.3 The arbitrator’s award is final and binding.

6.4 Venue and language (English or Swahili) will be mutually agreed.
